Q:What is Acupuncture?

natural healing which restores and maintains health by the insertion of fine needles
into specific points along the meridian pathways. Insertion of these needles affects
vital energy, known as Qi, releasing endorphins restoring immunity creating balance and
harmony on all levels of mind, body and spirit.
Q: Does Acupuncture Hurt?
A: Acupuncture treatment consist of insertion of fine needles, since the needles are
so fine acupuncture is not usually found to be painful. When some of the needles are
inserted one can sometimes feel a slight sensation, this is the arrival of the energy Qi
being directed along the meridian pathways, this will pass instantly. The rest of the
treatment can bring a sense of well-being, relaxation and even euphoria.
Q: Can Acupuncture be dangerous?
A: In the hands of a skilled practitioner, Acupuncture is perfectly safe. Cautions
are recommended when working around major organs and thin patients short needles are
used to avoid deep penetration. During pregnancy certain points are avoided. Always
ensure you have a Qualified Acupuncturist belonging to a Registered Acupuncturist
Council.
Q: Will Acupuncture interfere with my medication?
A: The answer is NO. You may find your medication working more efficiently as
Acupuncture moves blockages and balances the energetic pathways. With your Doctors
guidance you may find you will be able to cut down dosage of medication or even
completely come off it as the body heals itself and restores balance.
Q: Who can receive Acupuncture Treatments?
A: There is no age limit.
Q: How Many Treatments do I need?
A:The older the illness the longer the patient will need treatments. The duration of
the treatment depends on the individual, some patients respond quicker than others.
Q: How long does a Treatment take?
A: Diagnostic procedure and treatment normally one hour, Moxa or Cupping may also be
used.
Q: What Reaction may happen after Treatment?
A: Some individuals can experience worsening of symptoms for a short period followed
by a marked improvement. Slow progressive improvement. Complete improvement immediately.
